It’s a new year and I realise you are rested, revved up and ready to go!
Ready to rock and roll …
But before you rush off to conquer the world, may I suggest another kind of dance for this year. A dance that may seem easy at first, but a dance that few people succeed in doing right the first time they try it. It’s called the Slow Dance.
SLOW DANCE
Have you ever watched kids on a merry-go-round,
or listened to rain slapping the ground?
Ever followed a butterfly’s erratic flight,
or gazed at the sun fading into the night?
You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.
Do you run through each day on the fly,
when you ask “How are you?” do you hear the reply?
When the day is done, do you lie in your bed,
with the next hundred chores running through your head?
You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.
Ever told your child, we’ll do it tomorrow,
and in your haste, not see his sorrow?
Ever lost touch, let a friendship die,
’cause you never had time to call and say hi?
You better slow down, don’t dance so fast,
time is short, the music won’t last.
When you run so fast to get somewhere,
you miss half the fun of getting there.
When you worry and hurry through your day,
it’s like an unopened gift thrown away.
Life isn’t a race, so take it slower,
hear the music before your song is over.
– David L Weatherford
I know that you now want to know the steps for this dance. The trick to this dance is that there is no right or wrong steps. It’s quite a personal sort of dance that every one develops to suit themselves. Sort of a free style type of dance.
But may I be so forward to share three of the steps that I am going to incorporate into my slow dance for this year? Or even better; for the rest of my life!
1. Make more time to build en develop friendships. Without friendships no one will chose to live, even if they had all other good things in life. – Aristotle
2. Hold on tight to my dreams. A man is not old until regrets take the place of dreams. – John Barrymore
3. Courage to act on my dreams. All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them. – Walt Disney
So … let’s dance!

Is so haastig dat my taalvaardigheid my so effens in my laaste sin laat struikel het.
Groete.
Dankie, Chris! GE IV vorder fluks! Kom my ook gereeld oor dat die brein vinniger as die tikvingers is. Veral as net twee gebruik word!
Rian
Baie dankie vir die mooi wense. Alles wat mooi is vir jou en jou gesin ook.
